What is Director KYC (DIR-3 KYC)?

Every individual who holds an approved Director Identification Number (DIN) must complete KYC with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs each financial year. The form is DIR-3 KYC, and it confirms the director's mobile number, email address and identity details.

The due date is 30 September following the end of each financial year. A director who misses it has their DIN marked as deactivated and pays a late fee to reactivate it, and a deactivated DIN blocks the director from signing company filings.

Is this right for you?

Who this is for

A good fit if you

  • Hold a DIN as a director of a company or designated partner of an LLP
  • Want KYC done before the due date, not after
  • Have a deactivated DIN to reactivate
  • Have several directors and want all filed together

Something else may suit you better if

You do not yet hold a DIN. It is issued as part of company or LLP incorporation.

You need your company's other yearly filings done. See ROC annual filing.

You want a single team to handle all yearly dates. See annual compliance calendar.

Timeline & cost

How long it takes and what it costs

DIR-3 KYC is filed once a year. With documents ready, most filings are completed within a day or two.

Your total cost has two parts: our professional fee, and any government or statutory fees that apply. Government fees are set by the authority and vary by case, so we give you an itemised quote before you commit to anything. See our pricing page for packages.

Direct answers to the questions we hear most.

Every individual holding an approved DIN must file DIR-3 KYC every financial year, even if the company is inactive.
The due date is 30 September each year. The date can be extended by the Ministry in some years, so we confirm it.
The DIN is marked deactivated. Reactivating it requires filing the KYC with a late fee of ₹5,000, and until then you cannot sign company filings.
Yes. KYC is linked to your DIN, not to a company, so one filing covers all companies and LLPs where you are a director.
