Professional tax, registered and paid correctly in your state.
ZegalWorks registers you for professional tax where your state requires it and keeps your payments and returns on schedule.
What is Professional Tax Registration?
Professional tax is a state-level tax on income from employment, trade or profession. It applies in some Indian states and not in others, and the rates, due dates and rules differ from state to state. The Constitution caps it at ₹2,500 per person per year.
Employers usually register, deduct the tax from employee salaries and pay it to the state, while self-employed professionals may need to enrol and pay for themselves. In Tamil Nadu, professional tax is administered by local bodies such as corporations and municipalities, with payments made half-yearly.
